In case you somehow missed it, the final Presidential Debate between Clinton and Trump was more focused on the issues than were the previous two debates. There wasn’t as much back and forth – verbally or physically, which is hard for Donald Trump. However, to his credit, he did manage to keep his interruptions short if frequent. However, at one point, he made an interruption that will live in infamy.
While this video is a light-heated look at the debate, I can’t help but think of women who claim to be undecided at this point. If the comment; “You’re such a nasty woman” spoken in frustrated hatred and rage doesn’t strike an exceedingly uncomfortable chord within you, you’ve led a charmed life. Clinton accepted the insult with dignity and grace – and Trump (unwittingly, how else) launched a symbol of female empowerment. Twitter, Instagram and shirt printing presses have been smoking hot since Trump endeavored to put Clinton in her place with the insult. Instead, Trump succeeded in removing the sting. I can only hope someone has sent Melania one of the snazzy T-shirts, or fur and feather bikinis – whatever her preference may be.
Actress Cheryl Lee Ralph, took to Instagram to express her anger and speaks for many: “I think this is a real tipping point for women,” she said. “Women have to stand up and assume who they really are. Are you going to accept what is being said about you by men? … What are you going to teach your daughters?”
Men too, took exception with Trump’s remarks “Call me a #badhombre but I’m voting for a #nastywoman,” tweeted George Nimeh, also using a hashtag referring to a comment Trump made about immigrants.
