David Letterman Calls Trump A Racist in 2012, His Hilarious Non-Apology – Video

David Letterman saw Donald Trump’s ugly racist side in 2012, when Trump’s disrespect to President Obama was at an all time high. While Dave has often wrapped his wit and profundity in a goofball exterior, he was one of the first to call Trump out, and highlight the seriousness of Trump’s birther-driven racism. Why didn’t more media figures ‘out’ Trump, and suffer his petulant demand for an apology?

Mind, Letterman and Trump were on friendly terms for years, trading barbs on even Trump’s most sensitive topics like his hair, the goofy red tie, and Trump’s ‘slum-lord’ lifestyle, but the fun halted abruptly when ‘Trump started shooting his mouth off, as he’s inclined to do.’ explains Dave, who describes the exchange in which he called Trump a racist, and asks him if indeed he is a racist.

Dave didn’t miss a thing about Trump even when ‘giving him the benefit of the doubt, saying; “maybe he’s just a maybe it’s not just that he’s a racist, just a guy who periodically says stupid things to get people’s attention.” That’s accuracy! I’m going to miss President Obama, and David Letterman both.

Dave and Paul wrestle with the conundrum of whether to apologize or not, and ultimately  Dave cleverly  gives Trump the message hes waiting to hear…sort of, but it is  ‘straight from the heart.’
