Seth Meyers looks at Donald Trump’s response to an announced rise in Obamacare premiums. With mere days to campaign, Trump typically would have jumped on the news like a duck on a June bug, leading the chorus who are erroneously claiming that premiums are doubling or even tripling! At the very least, it might have distracted voters from Trump’s handsy reputation. But Trump,whose established businesses are suffering, had ribbons to cut at two new enterprises. At one gala opening, he addressed the topic briefly, by bemoaning that his employees are suffering under the yoke of Obamacare. It turns out, that if they’re suffering, it’s under the yoke of Trump provided insurance.
I understand Seth’s opinion that Republicans, who badly need to save face somehow, could have begun a national discussion leading to the improvement of healthcare…And I think it’s adorable that he thinks they would. Instead, Republican emissary Newt Gingrich plummeted further down the rabbit hole, with a dainty kick by Megyn Kelly. Not to be outdone, Trump – combining a ‘rally’ and a hotel opening, made much of his “Blacks for Trump.” Behind the sign, you see the face of a very pale, white lady. Good times on the campaign trail!
