Evangelical leader Franklin Graham Praises Trump as a man of faith and prayer for bombing Syria

“I appreciate that we have a president who understands prayer and solicities prayer. Our country is in trouble, the world is in trouble, and the perplexity of the problems that the president faces every day — at home and abroad — is just incredible. We should be praying for him, and he asks us to pray for our soliders, and for those that are in harms way. The Syrian people — that there would be resolution. But at the same time, we pray for the president. And the Bible tells us to pray for authority, not that those in authority are perfect people — they’re not. They’re imperfect, and that’s why God wants us to pray. To pray for the president and all those that are in leadership.”

I am of two worlds on this prayer business. On the one hand there is the fact that thoughts and prayers do absolutely nothing about anything. But then again, time these nitwits spend praying is time they are not out and about pushing their intolerance, bigotry, bile and nonsense to the rest of us.

Some years back a neighboring community of Santa Fe, Texas was having a brouhaha about using the school PA system to pray to Jesus before high school Friday night football games. This brought Pat Robertson to town with hundreds of hand held megaphones passed out to parents in the stands so they could pray to Jesus without the state owned PA system. I visited Santa Fe during the same time while carting my son’s band around before they were 16. They played the Santa Fe Community Center.  I wandered around the building to find one of those chrome stands with a black surface to paste white letters upon. It said. “KKK MEETING HERE EVERY OTHER THURSDAY NIGHT AT 7PM”

This was a boon for me defending Texas to all my old Yankee pals up North.

“You see? It’s not as bad as you think down here, the Klan meets only every OTHER week.”
