As Fashion Week wrapped up in New York City, Jimmy Kimmel sent a crew to Lincoln Center to ask those who are in the know, about cutting edge designers, trends and events. Here’s the kicker – none of the designers exist. If the people named do live among us, they aren’t known for their contributions to fashion. What do I know – Anthony Scalia’s robe collection may be to die for! One chic fashionista believes Scalia is the label to wear this year.
As you can guess, if you’ve seen other Lie Witness News segments, false designer names did not stop those questioned from having an opinion on the people named, and their contributions to fashion…Regardless of how far removed they are from the world of haute couture, someone believed they had seen their work and it was fabulous! This is all in fun, but it whispers something terribly discomfiting to me about Americans and our obsessions with designer labels, be they on couture gowns or T-shirts and canvas shoes.
Don’t miss the debut of the headless dress – pictured, which one person estimates should sell for approximately $3,000. It’s all about the label honey. Pssst! Have you seen the latest designs by Teddy Ruxpin and Phil Robertson ?
