Each year we know the holiday – er. ‘Christmas’ season is approaching when FOX ‘news’ begins their dire series of ‘War on Christmas'(and all that is decent and holy) segments. Psycho Super Mom, AKA Lauren Meyer examines the yearly battle in song causing us to wonder, If there’s a constant war on Christmas, why does Christmas always seem to be winning? Despite what Bill “Loofah Boy” O’Reilly and his bevy of ‘experts’ say, Christmas is far from an endangered holiday, despite its unfortunate alignment with FOX. The network of loathing for the poor, racism and scare tactics may not be the venue to bemoan the lack of ‘Christ’ in Christmas.
On a more commercial note, it’s difficult to lose a holiday which appears in stores along with Halloween decorations, giving the appearance of a Goth Yule season to come.
You will have noticed, FOX and other ‘right thinking’ people get highly excitable and even flushed when the words “Happy Holidays” are uttered! Only a godless pagan, bent on the destruction of this country would utter those words! Oddly, they are fond of saying our country is Judeo-Christian, but only the latter is recognized ‘officially.’ An alert person – not a Fox-o-phile will notice that we are a nation which also boasts atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, Muslims, Wiccans – and yes, Jews – like Jesus!
I recently spoke with a young man who was fired from his retail job for wishing his customers “Happy Holidays!” . The young man was from a family which was mixed in both ethnicity and religion, which made him a bit more open minded than some. . When called to the manager’s office, he explained t that he felt “Happy Holidays’ was more sensitive and inclusive to all of his customers than ‘Merry Christmas.” The manager didn’t see it that way, store policy decreed that ‘Merry Christmas’ was the official greeting, anything else was offensive, and he could turn in his keys and badge. The real kicker…The manager was Jewish.
I think it’s safe to say that if there is a war on Christmas, then Christmas is winning – in some twisted way or other.
