There is good news about Gabrielle Giffords. For the first time since last month’s shooting, she is said to be speaking "more and more," since requesting toast for breakfast one morning. Excitement is rampant in Giffords’ circle of supporters.
Husband Mark Kelly said Giffords is eating three times a day and enjoying it, "even though it’s hospital food," he wrote in a Facebook post. "The doctors say she is recovering at lightning speed considering her injury but they aren’t kidding when they say this is a marathon process."
In further news, husband Mark Kelly has made the decision to leave his wife’s side to act as commander of the Space Shuttle when it blasts off on April 19, a decision he had to make today or let a substitute take his place. It is his hope that Gabby will be well enough to see him off.
