Color TV Comedy cleverly spins the story of the first Thanksgiving, and how it relates to the current day. You see, Gentrifigiving all began when affluent Hipsters landed on Eagle Rock. Hold on a minute – that’s not exactly right. Actually, it’s been happening ever since the Pilgrims landed on that other famous rock. The former group gave us Taco Tuesday – the latter, Thanksgiving, but there is not a nickel’s worth of difference between the two events.
Gentrifigiving is happening every day. Wherever there is an unspoiled place that exudes charm, that is inhabited by people who love it, people with roots, people who make the place unique and desirable – there will be pilgrims landing. Aided by guileless natives, the newcomers soon feel right at home – as well they should. They now own it, and the friendly little town now resembles the one they ‘escaped’ in every single way. With the addition of strip malls, trendy shops, and ubiquitous franchises, ‘Eagle Rock’ is now identical to Pigeon Peak, Ford Rock and Ferret Ridge…Complete with sky high rent and a conspicuous lack of native faces. Let us all gather to give thanks, and celebrate Gentrifigiving every week – on Taco Tuesday.
P.S. Beware of hungry newcomers bearing cheap baubles and searching for brunch!
