Keith Olbermann sees three ways in which Trump’s Wild Ride could – and likely will, come to an end. All three are equally likely, but the third is straight out of political science fiction! Trump’s demise could simply come from the division in his own party. The failed health care bill did nothing to unite the party, and loyalty will become even more scarce when midterms loom.
So too could Mr. Trump’s Wild Ride sputter and stop when investigators into Trump’s Russian connections catch up with everyone involved. Either of the previous options is preferable to the third, which is unthinkable. However, inroads are being made to turn the unthinkable into reality.
We Americans could never find ourselves in the place of Russian dissidents at this moment. People at this moment are being beaten, jailed and murdered for wanting to vote for a leader other than Trump’s pal, Putin.
Only in political science fiction could it happen here; but if you believe that, here’s a splash of cold water. Eighteen states in the U.S. are now working to expand the criminalization of protests, and increase the financial liability for dissent! If the round-up of Democrats and liberals and pro-democracy protestors seems like political science fiction, Keith invites you to think about where you were two years ago in March of 2015. I don’t know about you, but I thought the election of Donald Trump was the most ridiculous form of political science fiction and farcical nonsense!
