Unarguably the most controversial song ever created. The love and hate revolving around this 1971 song still divides the world into existential camps.
On a personal note, John Lennon is wearing the same shirt – though his is Sargent while mine was Lieutenant. – I wore all the time as a poor college student on the GI Bill for four years from 1969 to 1973. My fatigue shirt with the 2nd division Indian patch, which I had six of. In the Winters I had only one coat, my army fatigue coat.
Also to my surprise when my son turned 18 he came home to say he got a tattoo. As he unbuttoned his shirt I was afraid, you never know. But there in a normal sized fancy font was the word: IMAGINE. We do influence our kids hey? But sadly it is where bigots and racists come from.
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people living for todayImagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people living life in peaceYou may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as oneImagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the worldYou may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
