Seth Meyers takes a closer look – at James Comey’s Senate testimony and brace yourself – Trump lied! While some of you may have suspected as much,the former FBI Director is now on record testifying that Trump lied about his reasons for firing him. It is lucky that Trump’s aura of dishonesty gave Comey the heebie jeebies, else he might not have written detailed notes which are 100% more substantial accessible than Trump’s fabled “tapes” of Comey.
More amazing yet is the level of humanity shown by Republicans toward Trump. The party of obstructing Obama made a showing today, asking folks to lighten up on Trump’s little glitches and whoopsies. Republicans cite the ‘new guy’ defense – much like the ‘ignorance of the law defense,’ claiming that Trump is ” learning” and – as faithful Chris Christie put it, with all good intentions; “He doesn’t know what he’s doing.” Even Paul Ryan stepped up to say “the President is new at this….And blah blah blah.”
As Seth rightly points out:
“Wait, the President is just learning on the job? Even at Chipotle you have to shadow someone for a WEEK” On reflection Seth voices the obvious; “He would never get hired at Chipotle.”
