Jimmy Fallon & Neil Young do Old Man

Jimmy Fallon & Neil Young do Old ManJimmy Fallon sure is a talented guy. But as with all things, in the middle of this when the real think appears, you can hear how much better it is.

You know of all the old favorite music of mine, I think Neil Young is about the only one I never saw live.  From fear that the concert I go to he may just decide to the whole thing with a piano and a local orchestra or some awful thing.

One of the best concerts of my life was in the Everglades in 1974 for Bob Dylan and the Band. Both at the height of their careers.

The parking lot was filled with Hare Krishna selling single roses for a buck. They were so ubitqueous that I think most everyone bought one. That was back when religious people were nice and loving rather than now when they are nasty hatefilled a wholes. It was a general admission concert and we had a blanked up front. The Band came out and did a few songs and then Bob Dylan walked out from the stage left in a white suit, in a shower of hundreds of red roses. And bang, Rolling Stone right off the bat. Those were the days my friend…

The worst concert I was ever at in my life, was in Chicago in 1979 to see Bob Dylan and the Black girls. It was that small window of time when he found the Lord Jesus Christ. It was so bad we had to leave. In fact over the past couple years he has been awful on stage. So with some of those heady old musicians, you have to be careful.

I think the best lyrics of any song came from Dylan in 1974:

Forever Young

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young

Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young

Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young,…
