Donald Trump told Barbara Walters that he’s the worst thing that ever happened to ISIS. Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t sure about that sentiment, so he sent someone out onto the street to conduct an informal poll. People were asked to complete this sentence: “Donald Trump is the worst thing that ever happened to (BLANK)” to see how long it took until someone said “ISIS.”
While it could be argued that Trump is the worst thing that ever happened to diplomacy, democracy, racial unity, good taste and Republicans, it could also be said that he is the best thing that ever happened to ISIS.
We constantly hear Trump’s poll numbers, and his constant bids to gain attention seem to take priority over more positive news. That is why Jimmy’s own poll is so encouraging. I’m struck by the diversity of those questioned, and by their immediate yet thoughtful reaction, which leaves no doubt that Trump’s intolerant message isn’t welcome.
