The Oscar Night Edition of Lie Witness News is a festival of fibbers as Jimmy Kimmel takes to Hollywood Boulevard to talk about The Academy Awards. As you well know, the Academy Awards Show is one of the most hyped events of the year, and there’s a lot of pressure to have an informed opinion about the movies that are nominated. If you’ve ever seen ‘Lie Witness News’ you know that people are loathe to appear uninformed…But lacking information, many are not averse to fibbing – and proving their ignorance. Bless their hearts.
People were asked what they thought of nominated movies and moments from them – many of which were completely made up. To be fair, there is a good bit of double-fibbing going on, which makes things infinitely more interesting. In fact, the man pictured, may well have been the only honest person questioned in this segment! It’s always a mystery why people will answer a question with a lie, instead of simply saying ‘I don’t know’ or in this case, ‘I didn’t see that film.’ Thanks to this quirk, there is a goldmine of crazy questions and answers in this segment of #LieWitnessNews
Here are just a couple of the zany questions which people took at face value:
“What did you think of Helen Mirrin’s performance as Cate Blanchett as Judy Dench as Larry Bird in “Birdman?” “Was it powerful?”
Helen Mirrin is a fantastic actress, but this beggars the imagination! When you hear the gushing answer, tell me – could a less attractive woman get away with her response?
Here’s another thought provoking question.
” How do you think Angelina Jolie did as Rosa Parks in ‘Selma?’ Was that powerful…or?”
The reply may surprise you, as much as the alleged casting.
Another young man, a three-time fibber, thought the movie “I’ll Lie About Anything” was a hit. I believe he saw it in a double feature with Al Pacino in ‘Scarface’ the sequel.
