Jimmy Kimmel is concerned about the snowballing anti-vaccination silliness, so he’s invited some real, live doctors to address the matter. They do so with great truthiness and hilariously exasperated humor. As I mentioned, these are real doctors who are on the front lines of disease control. None of them wants to see a major epidemic of diseases we once stamped out – decades ago. You can’t blame them for being a bit exasperated. They have dedicated years to learning their profession, only to be ‘educated’ by patients with some zany ideas prompted by a celebrity interview or a forwarded email. Add to that, they’re devoting their only day off to educating parents, and they really, truly want to be home catching up on ‘Breaking Bad!’
“Remember the time you had Polio?” inquires a doctor. “No, you don’t – because your parents got you vaccinated!”
Hopefully, the doctors will give anti-vaxxers food for thought. Perhaps doctors can also take away the importance of keeping tabs on the magazines in their waiting rooms. Stick to National Geographic, The New Yorker and Field and Stream. We can’t afford another celebrity treatise on health care.
“Brought to you by professionals who know what the hell they’re talking about.” Did I mention they feel strongly about vaccinating “your **** kids?” ; )
