On Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, we acknowledge five years of people prematurely declaring the end of Obamacare. To paraphrase Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) The rumors of the death of Obamacare have been greatly exaggerated…And there is no end in sight.
On March 23, 2010 the passing of the Affordable Health Care Act was announced officially by President Obama, and as “A very blanking big deal” unofficially but accurately by V.P. Joe Biden. Within seven minutes a conservative was declaring the demise of the ACA. It is the oft-stated goal of campaigning Republicans – if elected, to abolish Obamacare!
With over six million Americans who utilize Obamacare, it will surely be a relief to be rid of the socialist commie plan. I wouldn’t think so, but politicians do have their fingers on the pulse of average Americans, who can afford $700 a plate fundraising dinners.
John has compiled a film in which he has compiled over five years of dire predictions and threats from conservatives. They begin after the first announcement, and they continue after the recent Supreme Court decision upholding the ACA. According to the predictions: Obamacare is in critical condition, nearing collapse and approaching The End.
In the comments section below the video, we catch a glimpse of how the world sees us:
” I live in Denmark, and we have one of the best healthcare systems in the world. Its free, and we pay it of with taxes. Meaning the rich the most, so the poor can be covered. Why the hell the citizens of America don’t want that type of system I don’t understand… Any reason its that poorly received? “
.
Can’t you just feel the ‘socialist’ jibes awaiting the Danish writer? Fairly taxing the rich is (insanely) unpopular with many who are officially poor in this country. They might win the Lottery this week, and like a child with simple faith in the Tooth Fairly, they rush to protect ‘job creators’ whom – they are convinced, will simply leave if we tax them! If so, they will simply be following their money, which has lived abroad since birth.
