Kentucky Church takes stand against marriage inequality, as 11 states ban gay marriage

Dr. Derek Penwell is the pastor of an unusual church. His congregation, which is mainly heterosexual feels that the spirit of Christianity compels them to treat those who wish to be married equally, regardless of their race, gender, or sexual orientation.

The pastor and congregation have decided to protest in the only way they can, not to marry anyone until everyone has the same rights. With eleven states denying marriage to the gay and lesbian population, and the number growing, it is heartening to see a real church community filled with compassion – for everyone.
