There are hard acts to follow, and there are impossible acts to follow. ‘The Rev. Robert Jones’ finds himself in the unenviable position of following the Rev. Martin Luther King, and must think fast on his feet! When all else fails, he tries to get the mixed group to interact, and he believes his has a good way to do that…But is the crowd ready for warm and fuzzy interaction? Hilarity ensues…We hope!
I apologize for not posting this in advance of Reverend Martin Luther King’s special day. Taking a much more sober turn, here is a song written and performed by Gregg Allman to commemorate the Rev. Martin Luther King. “God Bless His Soul” with video by grubwormthree The lyrics follow:
God Rest His Soul – The Allman Brothers Band
A man lay dying in the streets
A thousand people fell down on their knees
Any other day he would have been…..
Preaching
Reaching all the people there
Oh Lord Lord
But Lord knows I can’t change what I saw
I Say God Rest His Soul
The Memphis battleground was red
Cause blood came pouring from his head
Women and children fallin’ down…..
Crying
For the man they loved so well
Oh Lord Lord
But Lord knows I can’t change what I saw
I Say God Rest His Soul
But Lord knows I can’t change what I saw
I Say God Rest His Soul
The morning sun will rise again
With all the passions growing thin
What we gonna do when war is come.. and we’re
dying
Dying for the cause I know
(yeah but)
But Lord knows I can’t change what I saw
Say God Rest His Soul
