The final Presidential Debate was viewed by a group of Jimmy Kimmel’s adorably funny and bright kids, who then shared their thoughts on the Clinton versus Trump spectacle. Jimmy feels that the results of the election are going to affect the children more than us, and It’s a bit unsettling to realize that they’re more politically aware than many adults we’ve seen on Kimmel’s ‘Lie Witness News’ segments! Jimmy’s gentle humor is the perfect match with the precocious wee folks, and their comments are often quite astute.
This piece reminds me of the book written years ago by Robert Fulghum called “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.” Besides extolling the virtues of such cross-generational joys as warm cookies and cold milk, and taking afternoon naps, the author includes a few rules, of which these are but a few:
“Play fair. Say you’re SORRY when you HURT somebody. Flush. Don’t take things that aren’t yours. Share everything.” Fulghum could well have been talking about politics. In fact, he appears downright prescient about the 2016 election.
“Ignorance and power and pride are a dangerous mixture you know.”
