Other than John Boehner, Republicans don’t cry, not even about twenty 1st graders blown apart by an assault rifle at school, and if others fail to hold back a tear, they are obviously faking it, it is the nature of the Beast.
What is so very onerous about these so called “people” in this case is that refuse to address that President Obama has met personally with not only the parents of these children, but the parents and loved ones of most of those killed in mass murders by their fellow gun enthusiasts. Like it or not, the common denominator that holds all gun murders together is the killers are all gun enthusiasts of one sort or another.
Long ago my best friend passed away far too early, I did my first eulogy and learned not to look down at that first row of weeping parents, brothers, children and widow. It stopped me cold in my tracks until I realized that if I wanted to proceed I would have to look over their heads. Now whenever I think of my pal I recall that moment and here most 20 years later I still tear up.
Sometimes we so overuse a word it becomes irrelevant or loses its meaning. “Empathy” is one of those words. The ability to step into another’s shoes and understand how they must feel.
I have come to learn that there is an “empathy gene” which many people are born lacking. We used to call them sociopaths while now we call them Republicans. And there is not much that can be done about it for as Lady GaGa says, they are born that way.
