Megyn Kelly’s much-hyped Fox special, ‘Megyn Kelly Presents’ promised an explosive hour, with her arch-nemesis Donald Trump headlining as guest. Viewers anticipated the first meeting of the two since the now famous debate, expecting that Kelly would use the hour to garner an apology from Trump, and to pin the slippery presumptive GOP nominee down on foreign and domestic policy.
Kelly’s newly short haircut sets her apart from the stable at Fox, and this interview would cement her place as a serious newswoman. Kelly faced The Donald, and demanding authenticity, she ran her fingers through his hair, proving the cotton fluff up top is his very own hair. The special then became less substantive as Kelly used the hour to promote her *book, and Trump basked in yet another painless opportunity to bring his face into the living room of ‘Murica. In the aftermath, Trump has thanked Kelly for ‘toughening him up.’ Critics have kindly lauded the program, calling it disappointing, awkward, pointless, boring and unimpressive.
It may just be dawning on some of us, that instead of a truce between two rivals, we witnessed a psych-out. This tactic is commonly used in professional wrestling, when two avowed enemies are in truth – allies, who’ve teamed up to to fleece the suckers and entertain the rubes.
* Oddly, the crew at Fox release a large number of books, which is odd for people who read very little, and I’m willing to bet – write less.
