Newt as Monty Python’s Black Knight, Michelle Obama on Leno

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Gingrich does remind one of the clueless and obstinate Black Knight from Monty Python’s ‘Search for the Holy Grail.’ Oblivious to the fact that he is seriously outnumbered, the Black Knight refuses to let the Knights of NI pass on the road where he stands. Why? No one knows, he just feels strongly about it – much as Gingrich is determined to drag out this campaign. The Knights of NI have no option than to oblige his invitation to fight. Losing a leg is no deterrent to his stubborn blockade, nor another, and an arm, etc. until he is but a stump – spurting ‘sap’ and shouting insults, entreating the cowards to come back and fight! Historical note: These are the Knights of NI, who within one scene change becoming "The Knights Who Say… "Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-PTANG. Zoom-Boing. Z’nourrwringmm."

Surely Gingrich knows that this campaign is over. Each debate is another opportunity to reveal the nastiness of Newt, and the major disconnect of Romney, who may only be ahead because he looks more presidential in a suit.

Michelle Obama left no question in anyone’s mind that she is a lady who is in possession of an agile mind. Last night Leno’s gotcha question about Obama’s singing versus Mitt Romney’s was completely out of left field – and lacking in good taste in my humble opinion. If he was hoping for a snide comment, he was sorely disappointed, the First Lady handled the question with Oscar-worthy grace and humanity. She may be the only Democrat who hasn’t joked about Mitt’s croaked rendition of "America The Beautiful" (all of the verses).
