The NRA makes Vladimir Putin look like Tinkerbell
To be more precise it is that the NRA has killed democracy, but what would be the icon of that to tie to the front fender?
I just spent some time looking over polling on guns. It really has not changed much in the last decade or so. The NRA dominates both Republican and Democrat elected officials who are scared shtless of them. Read the gun polls yourself at the polling place on guns
The gist of this cartoon is right on when we it concerns background checks. Over 80% of Democrats, Republicans, Independents and gun owners want universal background checks. There is also about a 20 point spread for curtailing magazine size and assault rifles. All of which do indeed project a lack of democracy in our system. But the rub comes when the questions get more general. When asked about more or less gun controls or stricter gun controls, the polls come out with a less than 10 point spread for more controls.
When we talk about American Exceptionalism this issue tops the list. No where on Earth is the love of shooting each other more accepted than here in the United States. We kill more Americans in a day than Vladimir Putin has killed in this great war that is raging somewhere I could care less about.
While I am at being unpopular, how about this stick of truth no one in America can say…
