Dog owners have less heart problems, better health, live longer and are happier than those who do not own dogs.
On the other hand, gun owners are 3 times more likely to die from suicide or murder than those who do not own guns.
A dog is also far better at dealing with robbers, burglars and errant 5 your olds not using their crayons properly than guns.
It would also seem to me that a barking dog would be a much better deterrent against a home invasion than the unknown possibility of a gun in the house.
And a dog is not going to mistakenly kill your son or daughter or drunk neighbor. Oh sure there are Rottweilers and pit bulls that kill the innocent, but a dollar to a doughnut the owners of such dogs also have an a gun arsenal in their bedroom.
