“I think it was very inappropriate.” NYPD commissioner William Bratton says of back-turning police protest on Mayor Bill de Blasio at a funeral for a slain police officer.
Crowd numbers have always been a bugaboo. Searching this out I have found the number of officers present was ‘10,000’ or ‘25,000’. The number of officers turning their backs on Mayor deBlasio and the African American community was ‘some’, ‘scores’, ‘hundreds’ and ‘thousands.” But whatever the number it was more than enough to get the message across.
The loudest a wholes in all this are the Police Union spokesman. Republicans hate unions. And every sports venue is unionized. It’s not easy being a Republican.
Don’t even TALK to the side representing unarmed African Americans killed by white police officers. A slap in the face not to the Mayor of New York, but to every Black person in America. Just addressing the issue is unAmerican.
And somehow it is now all the fault of Al Sharpton. After all, Al Sharpton talks to de Blasio and the President. In fact the most hated man in America has talked to the President 33 times in the past 6 years. Republicans keep track of things like that. What is Al Sharpton doing or saying that is any different than that of Martin Luther King Jr? Well at least the pressure is off Jesse Jackson these days. He is being a good negro by keeping his mouth shut.
The movement to have Al Sharpton removed from MSNBC is in full swing. Did you know he not only pushes a political agenda but speaks for African Americans – over 80% of whom see him as the most positive voice in the black community. Of course Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly et al speaking their bais to the white community is not a problem.
There are two spokesman for African Americans on TV. Travis Smiley who keeps being pushed later and deeper into nowhereland and Al Sharpton who must be completely removed for the good of all white people.
You know it was in New York where the relations between police and community began to fall into the abyss. It was when Nelson Rockefeller declared a WAR ON DRUGS which was soon picked up by President Richard Nixon.
African Americans aside, how many young people from 1966 to the present have smoked pot? 100 million? Mostly middle class who learned quickly that the police were the enemy who would be more than happy to ruin their life and the lives of their family for no good reason. Cops became the enemy and still are to most of them. Now add poverty, skin color, racial profiling, public defenders, hundreds of thousands of police every year committing felony perjury on ‘probably cause’, a for profit prison system and police shooting black men with impunity to that and what ya got? I wonder if the roles were reversed what white people would do in the streets?
Well one thing we learned from this past year. No one can any longer say that race is not the central driving force of American politics. And it’s louder and more in your face than it was even in the Sixties. Helter Skelter.
“I don’t want my hard earned tax money going to those lazy bums who live downtown somewhere.” That’s it friends.
