Worst: Rachel Burgin is a Republican state representative from the 56th district in Florida. She had ‘one of those days.’ Her bill HM685 would reduce taxes to corporations in Florida, because silly, they are people too! The thing is, the bill wasn’t exactly in her original format – and possibly was not even her idea, which became all too painfully obvious. If you’ve ever wondered whether Republicans legislate from a book with tear-out sheets to color, with their ‘original’ issues pre-printed, and get a memo with the talking points to use this week – wonder no more.
Worser: Tim Wildmon, head of the American Family Association, and not a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild. Wildmon whose views on school tragedies such as Columbine and VA Tech, should ban him from quotability forever, is back and heading the drive to fire Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson for JC Penney. (Psst – she’s gay you know.)’ Those people don’t shop there anyway.’ Ellen also donates a great deal of money both privately and publicly to worthwhile causes. Wildmon – on the other hand has done nothing positive, and his list of damaging campaigns is too long to list. It is time to give JC Penny the business and not a few ‘attaboys’ for ignoring the hate slinger.
Worse: Rick Berman, astroturfing lobbyist and sly star of his own anti-union Super Bowl commercial for the ‘Center for Union Facts’ (oxymoron of the week). Granted it’s beyond irritating to see Berman playing a disgruntled union employee, but Keith’s retelling of an interview with Berman a few years ago, cuts away the fat, and removes a lot of the sting.
