David Letterman asked President Bill Clinton the inevitable question: “What are the chances of you moving back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?” President Bill Clinton isn’t counting Hillary’s chickens before they’re hatched. He listed the big three things that need to happen before any crates are packed. “Hillary has to win the nomination,” Clinton began. “If she wins the nomination, then she has to win the election. If she wins the election, the chances are 100% I’ll move back… if I’m asked.”
“My experience is, since I left the White House… When a president of either party asks, you say ‘yes’ – so I hope I’ll be invited!” Clinton added, ” It would be a good thing for America if she won, I hope she does.” It would be a good thing for America if she asked him to move in with her, as well. This man is taking nothing for granted.
Dave made mention of the remarkable lives the Clintons have led, which prompted one of several expressions of gratitude made by Clinton during the interview, ‘We have had a wonderful life and I’m grateful.” Clinton’s eyes light up when his granddaughter is mentioned, it’s obvious that the 7-month-old Charlotte is responsible for much of the happiness evident on the faces of Bill and Hillary Clinton these days.
When Letterman suggested that it might be possible for someone to “be more effective out of office” than when they are in it,” Clinton, alluding to Dave’s retirement, quipped, “Well, you’re about to find out.”
