After the last week of this Marine General who we thought was the adult in the room, we find him making ad hominin attacks on black women and telling us the Civil War was fought for a failure to compromise. Much like we once believed Ivanka was going to be the reasonable one holding the Orange Buffoon to task. We were very wrong on both counts.
What we seem to miss with the slavery and the Confederacy is that these statues of confederates represent not only deeply that each of them believed strongly that slavery was a good Christian idea approved by Jesus, but also that slave owners could maim, rape and murder a race of people as they saw fit was also a good Christian thing. Oh and treason. Oops, I missed abject losers.
The compromise? The South would not compromise and started the damn thing. Fault being on the North who did not suggest that we consider black people 4/5s of a human rather than 3/5s or required padding for the shackles at least on the children.
