. Samantha Bee and Glenn Beck got together donning Christmas sweaters to reach out to one another. A few minutes of empathy, heart and common sense from diametrically opposed political persuasions brought together over a common issue, that Donald Trump is a dangerous douchebag.
The concept is high minded and even caused me to tear up a few times. Glenn Beck apologies for much of his past which he admits the purpose of was to tear us a part. Well good for him. He too was once a dangerous douchebag but is now sorry and is trying to make amends. I forgive him, but there are a few things to be aware of.
The lead in where he goes on and on about Samantha Bee asking him to come, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND, it wasn’t me. Which is of course directed to his audience to keep his falling empire alive and well since he came out against The Donald. He has to keep selling the gold, the bomb shelter supplies and the camo outfits to stay in his Dallas Castle.
Then there is their talk about rationality, Glenn Beck who believe Jesus lived in New York, God lives on the planet Kolob and wearing magic long underwear keeps one pure. Did I get that right? Is it God on Planet Kolob / Mormon, Gon on Planet Xenu / Scientology? I often get them mixed up.
There is also the apples and oranges issue. That Samantha Bee kicks conservatives with facts, data, truth and humor while Glenn Beck kicks liberals with lies, inventions, half truths and conspiracy theories. They are not the same.
And lastly you will find this reaching out to Trumpsters does not work. You have to argue points without using any facts, data, newspapers, CNN, PBS, books [other than written by Ann Coulter or Bill O’Reilly] or anything outside their right-wing media bubble is liberal/socialist crap.
So what’s left? As Rush Limbaugh so famously said while accusing Hillary of murdering Vince Foster, CHARACTER MATTERS.
But we hear time and again as we do in this video, that we must argue the policies and not the person.
This entire election was ALL about person and not policy. In fact we don’t even know what Trump’s policies are yet, but we do know that he is a vulgar, vindictive, self consumed narcissist, pathological liar, bigot, racist, sexist conspiracy wonk, flim-flam man that he has no desire whatsoever to learn anything because he says he already knows everything. Did I forget Orange Buffoon? Sorry. And you know, everyone who voted for him knows all that. So their hatred of immigrants, african americans and above all liberals is so very very very high none of that matters. Hate is what gave us The Donald.
The vindictiveness is what will be his Waterloo. I can think of only two men who have been more vindictive than The Donald. And neither were real but from two of our top pieces of literature.
Captain Ahab of the Pequod and Edmond Dantès of Monte Christo. But in their defense I have to say the former lost a leg and the later was sent to prison by three lying scoundrels. And Edmond Dantes finally saw the error of his revenge, Ahab did not and went down with the ship. There is little doubt that The Donald will go down, we should just hope he doesn’t take the ship with him.
The Donald’s vengeance is not about losing a leg to a whale or being imprisoned for something he didn’t do, rather it is all about not liking what people say about him. How shallow. How childish. How stupid.
