. Nothing funny in this one, just straight up kindness, compassion, empathy, altruism between different people reaching out to each other in friendship. Everything Despicable Don and his minions not only know nothing about but respond to with laughing, mocking and shooting the finger.
Hating the immigrants goes way back of course, but it hit home with me down here in Dumbutt in the early 1980’s when the Klan was aroused by the Vietnamese moving into the local shrimp industry. This was when the Klan still had their green neon lit K K K building in nearby Pasadena, Texas, a suburb of Houston.
The trouble began in the Kemah Channel which is a few hundred yards long that leads into Galveston Bay from Clear Lake, I live within a mile of the trouble spot. The Klan would dress up in their regalia with AR15s in hand and in small boats cruise up and down the channel to intimidate the Vietnamese shrimp boats and fish houses. They burned a few Vietnamese shrimp boats but no one was hurt so it never made national news that I recall.
The Klan hung out at this little trailer bar I went to on occasion. I liked it because chickens lived in the bar. If you found an egg you could keep it. Where and egg in your made sense.
I talked to a few Klansman on occasion, in fact I still have one of their cards, “K K K RACE GOD COUNTRY” Got that in about the worst order I can think of, hey?
What it came down to is the same problem the Trumpsters now have with Mexicans and Muslims. They come here very family oriented with a very strong work ethic. They take any job, save their money until the family can collectively buy a small failing business. Then the whole family works their asses off making it grows and they do well.
And there lies the kicker. They work harder, longer hours, with a lot less Bud and Fun and end up doing better than the local white population. The Muslims and Asians also have a much MUCH higher respect for education so that makes matters even worse. The resentment of losers over winners builds.
In this election cycle that resentment, along with the even greater resentment toward whining blacks, uppity women and politically correct liberals came to a crescendo by a vulgar, vindictive, bigoted, fascist billionaire. And here we are as divided as we were in 1859.
