A little math to put this in perspective. PBS gets about half a billion a year from the Federal government. Half a billion is .05% of a trillion. To make way for a 20% reduction in taxes for the wealthy.
If roles were reversed, Fox News would be calling this the WAR ON CHILDREN. Looking into this issue over the years the real horror of it is that those deep red areas of each of our states have conservative owned and operated newspapers and if they are large enough, local news stations. So the only news and commentary the people there get that does not have a conservative bias is PBS and NPR. And those are the very areas that need the federal funding to survive. Without it, they either go by the wayside or get bought out by Focus on the Family and Fox News. Making the red ever redder and dividing us further.
The real story in the debate the other night, was the joy Mitt Romney took in firing not only the moderator Jim Lehrer and Big Bird, but Sesame Street which teaches children tolerance of others (that evil multiculturalism) and NOVA which verifies science rather than vilifies it. We all saw how much Mitt Romney LIKED firing people, just as he said he did.
