The GOP and the Tea Party, divorce is not an option

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Chris Matthew’s topic, "Goodbye Trump and hello reality," answers the questions that have only become more perplexing – why the traditionally stodgy Republicans have courted the most common of the ‘common folk,’ the birthers, truthers and other nutters from the Tea Party. What did they see in one another? In fact, they were strangers, and happy to be separated by income, status – and income. The answer is so obvious as to cause me to slap my forehead with the palm of my hand. They don’t have to like one another, they simply have to hate the same people! Chris doesn’t see a long future for these crazy kids. Whether their union ends in ‘forever’ or divorce , we Democrats will dance at either celebration.
