John Oliver, like many of us feels -ironically, that the movie ‘Crash’ should have solved whatever lingering racial inequality lingers in this country; but our schools are the shocking proof that racism and segregation are very much with us. Those who feel the problem of segregation surely exists in the South, have a surprise coming particularly if they live in New York – specifically New York City.
John’s segment is a sensitive look at how we have reverted to a place where some children do not have resources in the classroom or experienced teachers, while others get the education that all students have the right to expect.
It is also a hopeful anualysis of what is being done to enrich all of our children, and how we can all become proactive. The simple fact is that when racially diverse children are educated together, all benefit in immeasurable ways.
