The Simpsons skewer the Primaries

The Simpsons skewer the PrimariesIt is not just Marge Simpson who has had enough of the primaries, add about 300 million more Americans to that which leaves only the 20 million or so who watch cable news or listen to talk radio.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s we did well with just a daily newspaper, 15 minutes of evening news and perhaps a weekly magazine. In the 1970’s evening news went from 15 minutes to 30 minutes with the coming of a few primetime weekly news programs here and there. In the 1980s came cable news with CNN. In the 1990s came the internet flowing with news while we sat at our desks. And then in 2006 we got the smart phone which gave us news 24/7 in our hands.

The wisest cliche is of course too much of anything is bad for us, and boy oh boy, this election process overwhelms us not for a few months per cycle like the rest of the world, but full frontal in your face for two years at a time from every direction imaginable with cable news is the worst offender.

With all that information saturating us from everywhere along with all the world knowledge available at our fingertips in a few seconds, the American people are still so mud dumb stupid Donald Trump leads the pack.

So information isn’t the problem, looking at the Trump fans and listening to their interviews, the problem seems more genetic that anything else. Or perhaps baseball caps kill brain cells. That is not so far off as we already know that wearing camo to go out completely destroys the brain’s neocortex.
