Seth Meyers takes ‘a closer look’ at ‘precident’ Trump’s decision to threaten hundreds of thousands of tax-paying, hard-working Americans by ending DACA. The announcement comes in the wake of a chaotic summer in office, with a series of difficult challenges to come. Why then did Trump decide to go back on his former ‘compassionate’ view of DACA and ‘the kids’ he loves so much? Americans have rarely been so unified in recent memory as they are in their desire to keep the DACA program as it is.
Why then do so many members of the GOP stand with Trump on this decision? According to Congress critter Duncan Hunter: “He’s an a**hole, but he’s our a**hole.” The Congressman must have been fairly swelled with pride as tone-deaf Trump and his moll visited Texas last week, and enthused; “What a crowd! What a turnout!” Trump, like the delighted master of ceremonies, bid a storm-tossed ‘crowd’ to “Have a good time!” Again, he’s their a**hole, but they’ve been far too generous in sharing him.
