Frankly I believe Chris Matthews is being a bit tough on The Donald. Perhaps I should say he is crediting him with too much. While gathering their disgruntled, well-armed loonies longing to be free, the Republicans latched onto the birther, Teabagger crowd long ago. Now if they could only shake them off before there is absolutely no difference between the old guard GOP and the great unwashed. The infallible Magic 8 Ball prediction is "Don’t count on it."
