Donald Trump is the elephant in the middle of America’s living room. Thanks GOP! The reeking carcass of a dead elephant can only become ‘normal’ if we all pretend that it simply isn’t there, drawing flies, lying on the rug. If we politely refuse to mention it’s stench, or call someone to remove it, that reeking elephant is here to stay. We’re not speaking of refuting the vote, but of refusing to pretend that unconstitutional policies or the appointing of unqualified bigots to important posts is okay.
Outgoing Minority Leader, Senator Harry Reid utilized his First Amendment right to express what many are feeling, an opinion easily proven:
“The election has emboldened the forces of bigotry and hate in America, and is being celebrated by white nationalists, Putin and ISIS, while innocent, law-abiding citizens are wracked with fear.”
This statement was not okay with Kellyanne Conway. Speaking of Senator Reid, Conway issued a threat:
“He should be very careful about characterizing somebody in a legal sense. He thinks he’s just being some kind of political pundit there, but I would say be very careful about the way you characterize it.“
With all of the emphasis on the Second Amendment, the First could be quietly erased.
