Seth Meyers takes a closer look at the release of Trump’s first full budget, an abomination that robs the poor to give to the wealthy – even while evidence is mounting that the POTUS tried to obstruct justice in the Russia investigation.
Trump’s campaign promises made his supporters love and trust him. Trump the Candidate, hated the right people, conducted spirited rallies, and he vowed to protect and save Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare. Those were the days. Trump the “President” has no recollection of making such promises – which is convenient, because his new budget slashes each of those very programs and more! C’mon, the money to give wealthy Americans big fat tax cuts has to come from somewhere, why not take it out of the mouths of babes…literally?
The Russian investigation and Trump’s ultimate reward will take a lot of time. Meanwhile, his budget – if passed, will absolutely and undeniably devastate poor and working Americans. Ironically, the states that will be hit hardest, formed the core of the Trump coalition. And because of them we can’t have nice things anymore.
