Video Chris Matthews sideshow : Stephen Colbert tries to understand British elections

In Sideshow today, The Atlantic’s Andrew Sullivan tries to explain to Stephen Colbert how things are done across the pond. Many things differ from our own political system, the
backward Brits do not run expensive smear campaigns via ads on the telly, so they probably don’t employ the faux phone survey scam where the sole purpose is to drop a bit of false dirt on your opponent into the ear of the lucky survey taker. The very most striking idea is that the election only lasts a month, then presumably, the work takes place. While in the US a month of work is quite the achievement, the rest of the time in office is spent raising obscene amounts of money and campaigning for the next election.
