I’m far from the first to say that America needs a hand holding daddy/warrior figure, and that the right wing media is not averse to using that need to further distance Obama from the hearts and minds of their faithful. Ironically they set the previous administration, possibly the worst president in history who was in possession of a foul mouth, on a pedestal as an example of emotional but strong presidential leadership. This leads me to the conclusion that dysfunctional families with alcoholic, absent fathers must far exceed even the most conservative estimates.
This sad state of affairs is more clearly brought home with the recent BP Gulf oil disaster. Oddly, comparisons between Obama and the “great example of leadership” shown by G.W. Bush flooded the right wing airwaves, with complaints of Obama’s lack of an ’emotional’ response. I picture Dubya’s stunned look while reading “My Pet Goat” and reluctance to mark the page to deal with the emergency. Is that the reaction of a truly surprised and stunned man?
Using talking head ‘logic,’ I can only gather that happiness would reign had Obama A: Been warned in advance, much as Bush was about 9/11, and chose to ignore it. B: Came out only to declare war on BP for their hostile actions! Alas, as we all know, it matters not what President Obama does or says. The same blood thirsty airheads who decried his logical approach to BP, are now working the FOX “BLEEPING” machine overtime, to censor the one perfectly shocking, naughty word that an angry Obama uttered in reference to the seat of the individual’s pants who is responsible for the disaster! Sigh…it seems that too, is “unPresidential.”
