Video: Stephen Colbert and the Great Salt Debate

Colbert moderates the debate concerning new limits the FDA wants to put upon salt in processed food. The participants are Lori Roman speaking for the unlimited and unregulated private profit for the Salt Industry and Dr. Michael Jacobson who speaks for the Center for Science in the Public Interest  with the backing of all medical and scientific organizations.

What I enjoyed most about this is that the answer to any new SALT LAW is so simple – and mistakenly used by the Salt Pusher – for chrissake people, if you want to kill yourself with salt, put a shaker in your pocket!  Gosh… There will be no law against salt shakers unless you of course you shake salt on someone ELSE’S food. And if you do that NOW Adolph Obama and his SS will come to take you away.

This debate is at the center of not just why the TeaTards wave all those silly signs, but what the Republican Party stands for. Big Government is evil and let the market alone sort it all out.

In this case, as in most cases, we have the Big Evil Government trying to keep people healthy and alive. We went through this with seat belts a generation ago [The only one I know still railing against seat belt laws is that snot nosed little Right-wing Obama hating wussy, George Will]  and this generation dealing with smoking. Both issues saving millions of lives without destroying our way of life and accepted by just about everyone other than George Will and strip club owners.

This also involves the secondary issue so popular in the dull areas of the nation who choose to believe that Glenn and Sarah know far more than any so called "scientist" or "doctor" or any of the nefarious brain dead professors and BOOK WRITERS. And if Glenn and Sarah don’t have the answers, all they have to do is ask a Preacher Elroy with the snakes or Billy Bob down at the ice house before he finishes that 15th Bud. Hey, Billy drinks LITE BEER so its not as bad as it seems.
