This ain’t the NYT editorial board here, so I can say NRA RATS rather than RODENTS.
On the bright side gun sanity has several things going for it. Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly are far more attractive in every way than Jim and Sarah Brady. The parents of the 6 year olds gunned down by extended magazines from an assault rifle are saying they will not shut up, Michale Bloomberg is going to spend millions on anti NRA ads in the next election, the media seems to be stepping up to the plate, most Americans have had it up to HERE with the NRA, and sadly, the next one.
On the down side, 2014 is an off year election where less than 50% vote as opposed to 60% in presidential election years. [All other democracies have around an 80% turn out in all elections.] Low turnout is important to the GOP and the NRA who owns them as Gun Enthusiasts are so completely consumed with wanting to shoot someone at a rate of 100 rounds per minute, that they are going to vote come Hell or Highwater. They will swim against the hurricane, dodge tornadoes and crawl over magma to vote for the right of terrorists, the insane, cartels, gangs, criminals and felons to buy as many guns as they can fit in a ship container.
I am reminded of Salmon Rushdie on Bill Maher last night who exclaimed that to those living outside the United States our gun laws are definably insane.
