In this video John Landis who is an avowed atheist, talks about why he thinks “we make stuff up” about monsters, religion, and the devil. His theory about monsters as metaphors for our fears is food for thought. Does this mean he is fearless? Not on your life. He’s frightened of the only real boogeyman on the planet! It is reassuring that even John Landis felt the urge to run to the closest Catholic church after watching ‘The Exorcist.’ I’m certain that attendance was high during the run of the movie and beyond.
