Jimmy Kimmel often presents a popular segment where celebrities read mean tweets, but this time he reads angry tweets written by ex-viewers, who are upset with him for hosting political candidates from across the political spectrum.
While some evening hosts try to avoid the political storm, Kimmel has courteously hosted both sides, including Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz and even Donald Trump. As Kimmel explains; “To me, in order to decide who to vote for, I think it’s important to hear what everyone has to say.” They also say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions…As Jimmy soon finds out.
The TV host has put himself in an uncomfortable position while trying to be fair. “If half of everyone hates me when I have a Republican on, and half hates me when a Democrat is on – everyone hates me!” This political season may be the most emotional one yet. Feelings run high, and the following is just a taste of the anger some feel after glimpsing the opposition on a favorite TV show.
A viewer who isn’t pro-Hillary wrote: “No more Kimmel in our home after that!”
An anti-Trump fan wrote: ” I can’t believe you’re giving him more air time. Why would you disrespect Guillermo in such a terrible way. Some things are more important than ratings. I hope you never return to Austin, Texas.”
After Bernie Sanders appeared someone wrote: “Kimmel, you Communist suck-up!”
