It seems to be settled, it will be Chris Christie versus Hillary Clinton come 2016.
It is hard for me to come up with any scenario that will not have Hillary as the Democratic candidate in 2016. Well other than some catastrophic event like nuclear war or another BJ.
On the other hand I can easily see Chris Christie shooting himself out of the running.
Look what happened to Rand Paul. A week ago he was the top pick for the GOP run in 2016, Chris Matthews projected him as the GOP Nominee. And now a week later he allowed his angry sarcastic character to shine through for all to see. He is now seen as a sniveling little snot. Sure it won’t matter to the Tea Party or to Kentucky, but it does matter in a national election and even a Republican primary. Rand Paul is out, Ted Cruz is in.
Can you name another Republican who has an anger issue even worse than Rand Paul? Who often rants and rails and finger points and yells at some poor soul in the audience? That may indeed be something well liked in New Jersey but not on a national stage.
Can Christie control it? Three years is a long time and when the real hardcore dirt starts flying as it always does in a presidential election, it is very likely he will let lose on someone so hard it will doom him. As we have just seen with Rand Paul, one character flaw can knock you out of a presidential run in a matter of days.
But if Christie does make it to the GOP primaries he will be up against Ted Cruz. And chances are good that he may actually kill and then eat Ted Cruz right there on a debate stage.
