The major flaw in this new polling from the PEW research center is that it fails to compare American religious beliefs to those of other nations. If it had, I am sure we would be listed way down at the bottom with other Dark Age nations such as Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Congo and Afghanistan.
What this table shows is that not much has really changed since the rise of the Religious Right in the early 1980’s. It is the same loud vocal gang of Fruitcakes who make up that 30% of us who dwell in the mindless dogma and intolerant bigotry who have been the mainstay of organized religion for the 5000 years or so.
In the table you will notice how intolerance follows the words EVANGELICAL, BLACK EVANGELICAL, JEHOVAH’S WITNESS, MORMON and MUSLIM. Those who most easily accept the evil concept that they are absolutely right and everyone else is absolutely wrong and will suffer an eternaity of having their eyes gouged out and red hot pokers shoved up their butts.
