Texas State Board of Education passes Conservative propaganda into textbooks

I believe no one can read the history of our country without realizing that the Good Book and the spirit of the Savior have from the beginning been our guiding geniuses." Republican TBOE member Cynthia Dunbar

And here is an old ABC Nightline segment on the leader of all this Don "the Dentist" McElroy

A few facts first. This affects over 4 million Texas students who today make up two thirds of Texas public school enrollment and increases each year. The 100 amendments passed will go into affect for the 2013 school year. Due to educational cutbacks caused by the recession as many as 20 other states may have to buy the Texas version to save money. 4 of the 5 Democrats got so frustrated with the overt racism they walked out of the room while the only hero in all this ugliness, Mary Helen Berlanga (D-Corpus Christi), tried to reason with the Texas Taliban. The majority of Texans and Texas teachers are on the side of these nutcakes in not only this, but also back teaching creationism as well. So though this all may seem like silly ignorant hogwash to some of yall out there, here down in Dumbutt it is well received.

In a straight party vote, the new curriculum and textbooks for history and social studies  passed this Friday 9 to 5. One Republican member left early for personal reasons. For the embarrassment of it one hopes. Newest article from the Houston Chronicle

Not only is the board divided by party politics but also all 10 Republicans are white and all 5 Democrats are Hispanic or Black. Also  7 of the 10 Republicans are evangelical Christian fundamentalist creationists whose ancestors hunted dinosaurs for dinner – or was that the other way around? We will never know the answer to that as it is the largest pile of ignorant swill I seen since I took Moby Dick for a walkee.

The Texas Taliban are propagandizing textbooks in regards to three issues: Advocating conservative economic free market politics, pushing theocratic Christianity by denying the Separation of Church and State and the meat of it, racism.

Here are just a few of the most disgusting amendments passed. Revising Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism as positive rather than negative (this from educational and child expert Ann Coulter). Replacing Thomas Jefferson as am enlightened philosopher with John Calvin (knowledge comes through scripture). Adding Jefferson Davis’ inaugural address to the Confederacy next to and on equal footing with Abraham Lincoln’s inaugural speech. Adding the words "free enterprise" 80 times replacing "capitalism". There is no separation of church and state. The word "slavery" removed. The NRA, Moral Majority and Heritage Foundation included in lieu of removing bios of Hispanic and Black leaders and unions.

They did not manage to get the votes to put HUSSEIN into President Obama’s name every time it was mentioned. I would guess this was only because a few Republicans had left the room for to take a dump in the hall.

One of the Board members put it well not long ago… "We will pass this because we are in power right now. When it comes up in another 10 years after this becomes the United States of Hispanics, they can change it back.
