Trump Rages Against Fake Media While Spreading Conspiracies

While aides wish Trump would address the ‘i-word’ (the acceptable abbreviation used for ‘impeachment’ in the White House these days), Trump is on a fake media tangent instead. One day after belligerently accusing Google for his bad press, Trump is working to convince followers that social media platforms like Facebook and even his oft-used Twitter are rigged and not to be trusted. Trump claims that Big tech is; “trying to silence a very large part of the country.” To Trump, he is a very large part of the country, but he certainly isn’t silent.

In his Twitter rant today, Trump raged against the “totally dishonest” media, naming the heads of NBC and CNN before striking out at ‘Fake Books’ as well: “I just cannot state strongly enough how totally dishonest much of the Media is. Truth doesn’t matter to them, they only have their hatred & agenda. This includes fake books, which come out about me all the time, always anonymous sources, and are pure fiction. Enemy of the People!”

If you replace the word ‘media’ with Trump in the previous paragraph, it is a perfect description of the godfather of Birtherism.  For all of his bluster about ‘fake news’ Trump still spreads conspiracy theories from the lunatic fringe. This week, Trump broadcast the dangerous, false story that Hillary Clinton’s email was hacked by China. The man who has access to the best intelligence in the world uses Fox, Alex Jones and other conspiracy beacons for his news – and it shows.
