Seth Meyers takes a closer look at President Trump’s contradicting remarks about his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey. Wait, was it his decision or someone else’s? By Thursday it definitely was his decision, but subject to change. While chaos reigned supreme in Washington, Trump – the consummate host, entertained two jovial guests, one of whom was the Russian Ambassador, notorious for having met with Michael Flynn, who then fibbed. A jocular Vladimir Putin summed up Trump’s actions in his most puckish, sassy style: “President Trump is acting in accordance with his competence.” Noting Putin’s jocularity, Seth observes that Trump is Russia’s ‘Norm’ – referring to the TV show ‘Cheers.’
Trump and his Russian pals appear to have a laissez faire attitude, considering the serious nature of the events this week. The notable exception is Sean ‘Sport Spice’ Spicer. The Washington Post featured a description of Spicer avoiding reporters after Comey’s firing by “huddling in the bushes,” a sensible action under the circumstances.
Seth covers all of the intrigue, betrayal, insanity and spies – and the week isn’t over!
