Last evening Rachel Maddow’s summation of the devilishly active involvement of Fox News in their promotion of the Shirley Sherrod story, and the lesser-known dispensation of the fake ACORN case equally touted by Fox, put Bill O’Reilly into one of his classic snits. No one is supposed to notice the outrageously bogus stories which are in vogue among nasty conservatives that serve to widen the racial divide, by causing white Americans fear black Americans based on extensive editing and bombastic lies reinforced daily.
If you think that he defended his actions or addressed the topic you’d be wrong, instead O’Reilly fell back on the amateur diversionary tactic of tossing Rachel (or "madam") a large stinky red herring with a much safer new topic for her to chew on, hoping that she would bound off to fetch it and become hopelessly lost. There’s no hope for redemption here, but it’s satisfying to see Rachel wind-up and let that herring fly back home to O’Reilly with the real issue at hand attached, where it obviously has gotten his attention with a satisfying SMACK!
